I was inspired to paint these adorable little balls of sunshine after an afternoon spent trying to capture some photos near a creek at home.
I took a little break, sat on the grass, looked up and out of nowhere I was surrounded by little Silver Eyes, a bird I’d never seen before in real life!I watched as some of them munched on tiny berries or captured insects, and others carried what appeared to be potential nesting material. They hopped around the branches, high and low, all chattering, and then as quickly as they came, they’d gone.
I’ve aimed to capture their habits and their busy-body magic by painting these two Silver Eye birds with a nest of fine pieces of bark, grasses, and curly spider webs, holding three brilliant blue eggs. One bird enjoying berries and the other tending to their home.
